irtfbill | OSIRIS-REx (upcoming NASA asteroid sample return mission) patches, pins, shirts, hats, etc. can now be found online through the University of Arizona bookstore.
|
Robert Pearlman | Two additional OSIRIS-REx mission patches: |
AshleyBoykin | I am curious as to who produced the T-Rex OSIRIS-REx mission patch? It is beautifully done. |
Kevin T. Randall | There is another OSIRIS-REx patch: And yet another one which I would call the "Egyptian patch," it is for the Atlas V AV-067 rocket patch that launched the OSIRIS-REx payload. |
AshleyBoykin | I am always on the lookout for new and interesting emblems! I am curious to know who manufactured that one as well. |
Robert Pearlman | The T-Rex design was created by a family member of an OSIRIS-REx team member. According to principal investigator Dante Lauretta, they refer to it as the "fan art" emblem. |
James913 | There is also a slightly smaller (3.5-inch diameter), less detailed, lighter blue version of the "fan art" patch. I believe this was a first generation to the 4-inch version being sold now. |
dogcrew5369 | The Egyptian patch to me looks like a play on the Jurassic Park emblem. |
sfphere | Anyone have info on this patch recently sold on eBay? |
Robert Pearlman | I am not familiar with the one above, but three more related patches that were produced for team members. To start, a woven version of a design shown earlier: A patch produced for the spacecraft's departure from Bennu on May 10, 2021: And a patch for the camera suite on the spacecraft: |

Looks like there is another one with a black border as well.Logos were also made for OVIRS and REXIS that were on the shipping containers, etc. but I'm not sure if they had a patch made like OCAMS. My guess if the Utah patch is authentic perhaps it was for a team at the test range. |
Robert Pearlman | I don't know if there were other patches, but this photo (Credit: NASA/Keegan Barber) of members of the Kennedy Space Center Flight Operations team shows a pilot wearing the "fan art" emblem while accompanying the sample return capsule back to the clean room. |

Today I had a chance to catch up with a colleague who covered the landing from Utah. This patch and a decal with the same design were given out at the press site. The decal has a description of the mission on its back and points to both the NASA and University of Arizona websites for more information about the mission. |
sfphere | Another patch for SCIFLI: The Scientifically Calibrated In-Flight Imagery (SCIFLI) team at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, collects real-time visual, infrared, and spectral data on vehicles while they are in flight. |

Patches for REXIS and OVIRS from the University of Arizona Libraries special collections:Patches for EGA, arrival, site selection, sample collection: |

Thanks for the info, another listing also states the patch was distributed at University of Arizona. |

This was the one shown on their flight suits: |
lspooz | Wow, love all the obscure patches (I'd happily trade one of the new sample return patches for the 'Egyptian' patch, or number 7, 14, 15, 16 or 17...) Any takers? |
Robert Pearlman | A-B Emblem is now offering a 5-inch embroidered OSIRIS-REx patch. Design no. 261308. |
Kevin T. Randall | The details on the embedded label for this 5" triangular OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return mission patch (shown above) is as follows;- 261308 A-B Emblem Made In China 11/23 01
